KABUL: Afghan Taliban on Saturday claimed that the Islamic State (IS) group in Pakistan killed their senior official in a rare clash in Peshawar. According to Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, Maulvi Daud, based in Logar province of Afghanistan, was on a visit to Pakistan when IS militants attacked his hideout on the outskirts of Peshawar and killed him. Two other men were also killed in the attack, Mujahid said. The news of the death was also confirmed by the militant group [ISIS] on Friday. However, they did not mention the name of the deceased. The group’s affiliated news agency AMAQ had earlier claimed that the Afghan Taliban have made contacts with US and Afghan special forces in order to eliminate Islamic State from the country.
